On Wednesday June 9th, 2008 the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Aqua Palace granted Clay Dana’s wish. Clay, 13, and his family are from the small town of Laurel, Nebraska. Clay was diagnosed at an early age with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. Developmentally, Clay is physically comparable to a 3-6 month old. He requires constant care and when he was an infant, he went into septic shock due to an infection from Strep B Bacteria. Clay’s condition causes his muscles to over-extend. When his muscles stiffen, movement is very difficult. Staci, Clay’s mom, applied to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to see if they could help her get a hot tub for her son to relax in. The hydrotherapy of the spa would help Clay to sleep longer at night. When Clay sleeps longer, his parents, Logan and Staci, can sleep longer as well. Once all the ground work was done with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a delivery date was set. June 9th was a very exciting day for the whole family. I had the opportunity to deliver the Marquis spa from Aqua Palace. Clay’s sister Grace watched and waited until the hot tub arrived. When I pulled into the driveway, Logan, and Staci’s uncle Steve Smith, helped get the spa put into place. We went over the chemical maintenance and any questions the Dana’s had about the spa’s operation. The Dana’s are very happy that Clay’s wish was granted. This was an experience I’ll never forget!
